The Paddle2Live Story: Just two years after his cancer treatment, Jack Marshall Shimko, an avid waterman and outdoor enthusiast is ready to embark on his 2nd annual mission to beat cancer through his favorite sport. This year, Jack has chosen to team-up with the John Wayne Cancer Foundation for support on his solo distance paddle, to plan a race event and Afterparty on September 10th and to raise funds for the foundation through all three aspects of Paddle2live 2011. On August 26, Jack will begin his 260-mile ultra-marathon paddle in the open ocean as a Team Duke Athlete to fundraise for the John Wayne Cancer Foundation. Jack will depart from Pt. Conception, CA, and plans to paddle 26 miles a day for 10 days, touching all 8 of the Channel Islands before reaching his hometown of Newport Beach. On Saturday, September 10, Jack will land just north of the Newport Pier during the Paddle2Live Race and in front of hundreds of friends, family, supporters and race participants.

Join Quickblade in aiding Japanese earthquake and tsunami victims
Jodie Nelson had no intentions of participating in this year's Catalina Challenge Relay, a 40 mile race from Catalina Island to Dana Point, CA. But when she got a call from Elizabeth Terrell of Quickblade Paddles, who told Nelson she had someone looking for a teammate, it perked her interest. And after learning that someone was Jen Lee, who would also be standup paddling across the channel, solo, only 3 days before the relay, the notion was taking root.

Catalina Island, California - (3/26/11):
This years Catalina Challenge Relay on Sunday March 27th, a 39.8 mile race from Avalon on Catalina Island to Dana Point, will feature the introduction of Quickblade Paddles' newest product. The JRT FLYWEIGHT 83, Quickblade's lightest paddle, will be in the very capable hands of San Clemente's 12 yr old Alleanna Clark. Alleanna's success in racing and her love of standup paddling made her the perfect choice to roll out the new paddle.
The JRT FLYWEIGHT 83 carbon paddle features a 8.3" blade and a 10% reduction in the diameter of the shaft, making for an extremely light, easy to grip paddle, perfect for anyone. Quickblade celebrates the youth movement in SUP and the JRT FLYWEIGHT paddle will give them the comfort and custom feel that all the Quickblade paddles provide.
We are excited to hear all about Alleanna's race and get her feedback on the new FLYWEIGHT. She will be participating with her 3 teammates in the Relay, including her Mom, Manya Clark, 12yr old Nick Sheel and his Dad, Norm Sheel. Follow along with all the action www.twitter.com/supsurfclub as the team will be posting updates during the race.
GO Alleanna!!!
Alleanna's Bio & Photos

They are $25.00 and all the proceeds are going to red cross.
