The Stingray is designed for fast-cadence paddling, making it an excellent choice for downwind foiling, SUP foiling, and pop-ups, particularly for more experienced foilers who are looking for a quick, efficient blade that allows for rapid strokes and fast transitions.
The Stingray is a revolutionary paddle shape designed to dramatically reduce the time it takes to get the blade into and out of the water. At approximately 10 inches long, the Stingray blade is about half the length of most traditional paddle blades. This reduced blade length helps shorten both the catch and exit phases of the stroke.
With the blade's center of area positioned much closer to the tip, the Stingray delivers a quick, snappy catch and release, allowing you to transition efficiently through the stroke.
The Stingray features a thin, foiled blade shape set at a 12° angle to the shaft. As the blade enters the water, the foil creates a subtle "wing" effect that helps the blade move forward as you engage the stroke, adding efficiency and extending the power phase.
As the blade exits the water, the same foil shape works in reverse, helping the blade thrust forward smoothly and efficiently through the release.
To maximize this winged-foil effect, the Stingray utilizes an all-carbon tapered shaft, which minimizes drag below the pulling hand and allows the blade and shaft to work together efficiently throughout the stroke.
Based on initial testing, we believe the Stingray's efficiency has the potential to increase boat speeds by approximately 1–2%. Results will vary depending on the paddler, boat, and conditions.
Why Do We Recommend Ordering the Stingray 2" Shorter?
The Stingray blade is significantly shorter than a traditional paddle blade, which changes the position of the blade's center of area in the water.
We recommend ordering the Stingray approximately 2 inches shorter than your normal paddle length. This recommendation is based on feedback from hundreds of Stingray paddlers.
Even though the paddle is 2" shorter overall, you should maintain approximately the same hand spacing you use with your normal paddle. Because the Stingray's center of area is positioned closer to the blade tip, the blade will travel to a similar depth in the water as your traditional paddle.
In short: same hand position, similar blade depth, faster catch and release.
